I Lied About Vay-Cay-Shun

Yesterday I wrote I was going on writing hiatus. I'd packed my Suburu and took off this morning at 8 am for Iowa with no intention of writing one word about the trip. I lied.

Whenever I drive through Ohio on my way to Indiana I always gas up before I hit Illinois, the land of idiots.

Anyway, I should have put in fuel in the Hoosier State. Illinois is now charging $4.00 per gallon. Maybe they saw me coming. But wait, it gets worse.

I was exhausted when I hit Iowa City, Iowa so I hunted out a motel. Across the street from the Sleep Inn was a Casey's General Store. If you've never heard of these places pity on you. I've written before the first Casey's was in my hometown of Boone, Iowa and was established in 1964. As of today these outlets have spread across the Midwest and some have even filtered into Ohio(which, as we all know, is not in the Midwest.) Anyway, Casey's is noted for making the best pizza ever. Trust me. I've tried it and I've given it my seal of approval. But, I was in a hurry and didn't want to wait the twenty minutes for cook time for an entire Za so I took two slices. Hold onto your shorts. The price for each was $4.00. It's not like paying for a gallon of gas but it's close.

I used to be a big beer drinker; never met a beer I didn't like. As of today I said a Hail Mary and thanked the Lord above for my abstinence. Does this sound not correct? This Casey's had a price mark on a 12 pack of 12 ounce Coors lights at $18.75 cents-------before taxes--- and this was one fourth the cost of a motel room. What am I missing?
