How To Survive A Nuclear Attack

There is an article in the Washington Examiner this morning stating if North Korea launched a nuclear weapon aimed at Washington D.C. the citizenry would have a total of ten minutes to find cover.

If launched by China or Russia the time frame is even less. So, the big problem as I see it is where to find a safe sanctuary. In D.C. it would be the underground Metro System but, ick, only the politicians and K Street lobbyists might have access to it.

Back in the 1950's we had the problem solved according to Civil Defense programs via early television.
Grade school students were exhorted to hid under their desks, cover their ears, close their eyes and, presumably, pray like they've never prayed before. Times were so simple then, weren't they?
