And fans turned out for Fifty Shades Freed to see how the passionate love story between kinky billionaire Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan, and Dakota Johnson's naive Anastasia Steele played out.
It pulled in $38.8 million to top the weekend box office, less than the first two films in the franchise, but it pushed the global take for the trilogy to $1 billion.
