The Berlin Wall

I happened to be reading an article on The Berlin Wall  separating communist East Germany from the WWII city of West Berlin controlled by the Allied victors, primarily the United States.

The Wall was erected in 1961 due to the fact that people from the communist side were fleeing their oppressive state for freedom.

West Berliner at the foot of the wall talks to East Berliner, November 1962.

It wasn't until 1989 under the leadership of Renaldus Magnus that the Wall came down.

Millennials and their understudies today don't understand the concept. You see, they're comparing the Soviet Wall with Trump's Wall. Silly children. They don't comprehend the difference.  The former was erected to keep people in. The latter to keep people out. In Trump's case I promise any and all the U.S. will not machine gun those trying to crawl over.

I personally have a friend, Alfred, who escaped Hungary in 1956 under a hail of bullets fired by the communists. He's a personal hero, staunch conservative and hates liberal America. What a guy.
