For some reason, and I don't know why or when this happens, I thought about my kindergarten teacher this morning. It was 1951 and I attended Bryant elementary school. I was only there for one year because the next year I transferred to Sacred Heart to be trained by the Sisters of Charity. But, that's another story.
Anyway, one of my memories was the result of World War II and the dropping of A-bombs on Japan. Look at the photo and ask yourself, were our leaders that naive?
I think, and I could be wrong, the kid on the floor in front of is me. I only say this because of the size of the larger than normal butt and I'm certain this pic is from Sacred Heart because of the cursive writing on the chalkboard.
My question is, what government official was responsible for convincing the school officials, teachers and our parents that a mega ton bomb would not decimate us if we covered our heads?
