The Brits Flub The Olympics

Between napping while watching the boring and left leaning Olympic opening ceremony last night I wondered who would light the Olympic torch. Have you ever seen a more wretched ceremony? I thought these things were supposed to be uplifting. What we got was a panorama of poverty and filth from the Industrial Revolution. It was horrid. Even so, the Brits could have ended the night on a good note with the lighting of the torch but they failed. Seven kids were given the honor. The greatest athlete in the history of England was on the sidelines. His name is Dr. Roger Bannister and he ran the first sub four minute mile in 1954; at the time considered almost super human. He's 91 now and a retired doctor. How sad the Brits couldn't have honored this man and shown the world an appreciation of a life well lived instead using a bunch of kids whose recognition of history dates to the most recent  cartoon characters.
