Teaching An Old Dog New Tricks
When it comes to finances and the financial world I'm about as clued in as Clem Cadiddlehopper. In other words, I don's squat. It's one of the reasons I tied myself to the Her Majesty train. She knows this stuff.
Lately, I've been hearing about something called offshore shell company's. I was clueless for a definition but it didn't sound good. Apparently, there are twenty of these 'businesses' in which the Biden's have funnelled cash. It seems these faux businesses don't produce anything, they don't have employees and they don't even have business cards. Being an amateur it sounds to me as though they're phoney places to hide money.
Along this same line a number of banks have now state there were 170 suspicious activity reports put out on the Biden's. Once again, I'm pleading ignorance but it doesn't sound as though these reports will qualify Biden folks for Nobel prizes.
What is now being exposed is the Biden family headed by Joe, who has been a politician since Abe Lincoln was president has garnered $50 million dollars in his career. That's heady stuff for a guy who up until two years ago was cashing yearly checks for $175,000.

How Old Is Too Old
I was watching the Republican leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, a few days ago and his brain went to the Land of Who The Heck Am I? It was like he was in a coma and kind of scary. Oh, it wasn't scary because I was concerned for him. It was because he's four years older than I so I thought, "That could be me" and I cringed.
Immediately after Mitch's brain freeze I decided to research the ages of the members of the most august political body, supposedly, in the world. In a modern day workforce if I were a hiring CEO I assuredly would employ the brightest and the best. I once read that the most productive years for humans is at the age of 36. I don't recall the source so you'll have to believe me.
In this vein I looked up the oldest members of the U.S. Senate. The senator who leads the parade is Dianne Feinstein at age 90. Two days ago on the Senate floor a roll call took place and when it was her turn to answer Yes or No she sat in her chair dumbfounded. Finally, an aide told her to answer in the affirmative.

However, if for some bizarre reason Di Fi decided to run for office again her staff, more than likely, would offer this photo for her constituents.
But wait, there is another in that body who needs serious help. His name is John Fetterman-Pennsylvania. He's had so many strokes he can't string a coherent sentence together. And consider for a moment that Joe Biden has had surgery for not one but two brain aneryisms.
So, why am I making this subject of age an issue? Well, I've recognized a couple instances in the past month when my 77 years have jumped up and slapped me in the face. Example: Across the street from us lives a man with a 16 year old daughter. We've known her for ten years. She's a lovely child and every year at Christmas and on her birthday we'll put a gift certificate or cash in an envelope and present it to her. Last week I had told Her Majesty I wondered if ??????? might walk our dog. The question marks are due to the fact that I had forgotten Maggie's name for a few brief moments--as in, an hour of forgetfulness.
Did you know that Senators and members of the House of Representatives make life changing decisions for us? Did you know if a president calls for a declaration of war it's up to the House to decide? In other words, some of these people don't know what year it is and they're making decisions that affect your family personally and the nation forever.
I was emailing a friend this morning about congressmen and why they stay around so long. It is, of course, about power and money. When one thinks about it it's quite sickening that these people hang around so long but in the final analysis it's we, the voters, who allow the grifters to continue screwing us.
Let me ask you a question and I want you to think about Feinstein or Fetterman or even Joe Biden. If you brought home a new car today, one that cost you $30,000, and Joe or Dianne or Fetterman asked to borrow it to drive to Walgreen's would you flip them the keys and let them drive off? I didn't think so.
The problem with having term limits is these relics of Methuselah would be the ones to vote themselves out of office.

The family of a female Marine who was killed during the disasterous withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 was forced to pay $60,000 to have her body flown from California to Arlington to be buried.
Nicole Gee, 23, was one of 13 service members who were killed during a suicide blast at the Kabul Airport in 2021, per Daily Mail. There were also 170 Afghans reportedly killed in the attack that ISIS took responsibility for.

I can still see my Grandma sitting in a rocking chair and in front of her was her air conditioner. Back then it was called a folded newspaper. She'd sit for hours fanning herself and all the while she regale me with stories about the real heat of the 1930's.
I don't have to tell you, except for the wack job crowd, there are temperature cycles. It'd be easy for you to verify. Go back in history and find a starting point--somewhere around the 1500's AD. You might be surprised at the fluctuations in heat and cold. I wonder if the sun has anything to do with climate change.

It's Hot Even In Ohio
Brother! It's a hot one in Ohio at 90 degrees. I fully realize there are areas of the country seeing temperatures 115 F and higher. I have two answers to this: (1) It's summer and (2) these cities witnessing infernos are in the desert.
Even so, I was standing in front of Kroger Food this morning and a fella approached me with that look of "Howdy". Well, obviously I had to give some type of response and a "Hello" seemed sort of benign so I fell back on a saying that originated in Iowa. It's one we all grew up with and the greeting is a of a matter of fact statement that that can be said without an argument taking place because it's non controversial. I said to the man, "Hot enough for ya'?" The beauty of this phrase is I can say the same thing six months from now by uttering the following: "Cold enough for ya'? See what I mean?

"Build It And They Will Come"
Time flies when you're having fun or so some say. In the State of Iowa today marks the celebration of a landmark event that has spread across the world. It's called RAGBRAI which stands for Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. Yep, thousands of people will jump on their bikes at one of Iowa's western most sites, usually at the Missouri River, then ride on the highways and biways across the Hawkeye State and dip their front tires into the Mississippi River on the eastern side.
The idea was conceived fifty years ago this week by two writers for the Des Moines Register and it has grown from a few hundred to over 30,000 registered participants and there are many more who didn't sign up.
It is indeed an event that has gained world attention. The bikers ride on country roads through small towns and the citizens of each community come out to welcome the riders with fun, food and laughter along with copious quantities of refreshments-------beer included.
One of the folks in this years event has participated in all fifty of the excursions.

What The Hell Is Going On
Her Majesty and I left Iowa for Ohio in 1989. We settled in a suburb of Columbus on the northeast side of the City called Westerville. Fifteen years later we transferred ourselves to a northwest burb called Dublin.
Even though, early on, we were suburbanites we thought nothing about going to downtown Columbus to enjoy its sites and sounds. We even visited areas of interest after sundown. Not any more. The town once referred to as a 'Cow Town' is far from it and not in a good way. Murders in Columbus are the normal part of everyday life. I may be wrong but Columbus might be the 14th largest city in the nation. It's population could be a shade over 905,000. Columbus, like Chicago and Detroit and Philadelphia and St. Louis is not a safe place to be these days.
Sometimes, when I read certain stories my heart breaks and I have to ask myself, 'What the hell is going on in this country'?
Saturday evening, yesterday to be more precise, at 9 pm a crime took place that is so sad I hesitate to even think about it. A mother and her four year old son were on the grass parking in front of their home in, guess where, Columbus Ohio. How many times have I asked myself, "What if I'd done this or done that? What if I'd zigged instead of zagged?" I ask myself this question because of what occurred last February 8 when my lovable buddy and best friend, Charlie, was hit by a car in front of our condo and died instantly. But, in the following scenario it wasn't a dog that was killed. It was a four year old child.
As it happened a 24 year old punk thug had stolen a car and sped away from the car parking lot which was the scene of the crime-------the first crime. The criminal who sped away jumped the curb with the stolen vehicle and killed that innocent child in front of his mother. God help us!
Yes, the perp was apprehended but there's a footnote to this story that causes me to shake my head in utter disbelief and I'm certain what I'm about to tell you isn't only restricted to Columbus, Ohio.
According to the Columbus police since January 1, 2023 to date there have been 5,000 vehicles stolen in this city. FIVE THOUSAND AUTOMOBILES stolen in six months and twenty-one days.
According to the reports seventy per cent of these vehicles are either KIA's and Hyundai's. I asked Her Majesty why these cars are selected and she said it was to strip off the copper. It could be but I don't know because I've never stolen an automobile and I'm clueless as to what to do with its materials. And If I did I wouldn't know where to go to sell it. Would you care to know why? Well, it's because I'm not a damn criminal, that's why.
I have questions about all of these crimes. Where are the mom's and dad's of these youthful gangsters? Do the parents have one iota of control over their offspring? Do these parents give a whit about these kids? Well, I have an educated guess to all these questions but I dare not ask out loud because then I'd be deemed a racist.

Anyone and everyone who had knowledge and kept their mouths shut, who “Followed Orders”, who simply stood by and said nothing should be prosecuted, tried, and when (if) found guilty be at least fired and lose their pensions, if not imprisoned.

She Comin' Along
It's now been two months since our rescue, CeeCee, came into our home and she is coming along nicely. It's a slow process for certain but she's beginning to acclimate to her new home and lifestyle. When you look at the photo you wouldn't think she was anything but happy. She wasn't at all. This poor little dolly was the saddest creature on earth. The picture must have been used to lure us into an adoption. Her self-confidence was so bad she couldn't look us in the eye. Her head was constantly facing the ground. She's at the point now when she'll look at us and I can see her saying, "Hey, where are my treats?"
Good things take time. Last week we hired an expert in dog behavior. He is an ex-Marine whose job was to train K-9's and in only one session he opened our eyes to CeeCee's possibilities. The little lady was deathly afraid of most men, some women and all dogs. Her emotions when confronted with these situations ranged from rabid anger to total fear. With much care and many treats she's slowly changing.
This transformation began eight days ago. Her Majesty had spent five days away from home. When CC saw her walk in the front door it was, for her, total excitement, enthusiasm and joy.
It's going to be a long road before she feels like a part of the family. No wait! It's going to be awhile until she takes over control of the family. After her previous life of five years she deserves nothing but the best. I only have one hope for her: that she gets on a proper and regular BM schedule. For her it's akin to a human sitting on the toilet for an hour. I think she does this just to bug me---------and to let me know who's the boss.
