It's shocking this story about Mary Landrieu hasn't gone viral. Have you heard about it? There's going to be a run off vote on December 6 to determine the senator from Louisiana to the Senate. Since no one received 50% of the vote in last Tuesday's election the Louisiana constitution calls for one.
Last Wednesday Landrieu wanted to get the jump on her opponent, Rep. Bill Cassidy, so she grabbed a bullhorn and let fly. The sitting senator posed these questions for Mr. Cassidy. "Where were you when Katrina happened? What did you do to make things better for the people"? She went on, "I was right here making sure the people knew their senator was looking out for them".
Don't these people have campaign managers? I would think vetting facts might be somewhat important. The next part of this story is so delicious it should be plastered on Republican campaign headquarters across the nation until the end of time.
As soon as Mr. Cassidy, also known as Dr. Bill Cassidy, heard about Landrieu's tirade he had quick responses.
"Well", he said, "When Katrina took place I wasn't in congress. I was a private citizen". It gets better.
Cassidy went on. "When the hurricane hit three of my doctor friends and myself took over an abandoned K-Mart and set up a hospital to treat the injured. We secured volunteers, 150 nurses along with many members of local churches. We donated our time and services to do the best job we could for the people".
