A few days ago I was on a rant about the rising cost of items I'd formerly never given a thought. As an example, I purchased a battery for my iPhone and was more than shocked when the guy at Battery's Plus gave me a bill of $79.00 and it wouldn't arrive for a week. What's the matter, don't the Chinese have jet planes?
Along this same line I visited Kroger's this past week to buy some basic essentials. The Queen is out of town having taken one of our grandchildren to Washington D.C. which means I have to do things I detest and one of these is cooking my meals. I try to make it as simple as possible which means if it doesn't fit in the microwave it won't be eaten.
Basically, my staples involve pretzels, cheese, milk, tomato soup, peanut butter, eggs and bread. So, there I was sauntering down aisle #4 at Kroger which is the bread department and I spied a loaf with a price of $1.69. My eyes double clicked as I thought to myself, "Wow, that's a pretty darn good price considering awhile back a loaf was going for over $2.00 and change.
After I got home and began putting the groceries in their proper spot I opened the egg carton to see how many shells were cracked. I'd forgotten to do this in the store. I looked at the product and thought I needed a magnifying glass since they were that small. Those eggs cost me $1.79 and I now know why. They came from pigeons.
Later on, at lunch time, I felt like having a piece of toast so I opened the bread loaf. I'll leave it to you to decide if we're in an inflationary period or not. What bothered me about the eggs and slice of bread is Kroger tried a 'fake-out' trying to make me believe I was getting a bargain. Well, I can be sort of stupid sometimes but I'm not that dumb. And all you have to do to understand our inflationary period is take a look at one slice of bread compared with a teaspoon and then try to tell me I'm wrong.
"C'mon folks, is this what you really wanted when Trump was replaced by Joe Biden? And it all began on Day 1 when we shut down oil production so we could be controlled by the rest of the world. FJB
