Quotes From Lincoln On His Birthday

Most people forget that today is the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. If you happen to be a liberal you most likely have never heard of the man. It would be his 205th birthday. Lincoln was the 16th president, libs. That would be between 15 and 17. He was assassinated(killed) by a man who was sympathetic with the South in the War Between-----oh forget this part. It's too much for you to comprehend. Anyway, I've put down a listing of a few of Lincoln's quotes regarding government. I wonder what 'Honest Abe' would think if he had to witness the hijinks going on in D.C. today. The words 'grave' and 'roll over' come to mind. After you read these quotes you should click on the link and see what he had to say, in the early to mid-1800's, about morals and character. He really was a quite remarkable man considering he literally grew up in a one room cabin; learned to read and write by himself and then moved on to become a lawyer before he got involved in politics. He is, without a doubt, my very favorite president ranking ahead, even, of Ronald Reagan and George Washington. Libs, Washington was our first president but that's another story.

Nationhood
“Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”
“Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world.”
“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.”
“Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.”
