How many times have you, a senior citizen, failed to come up with a particular word. A couple of months ago I wrote a piece on forgetting words and when I do I'll write 'thingy'. Saying that is a dead giveaway that we've lost it.
So, I think I've come up with an answer to make folks think we're actually smart. When you have one of these brain duds say, "I'm trying to think of the English word for it". That way the other person will supply the word and think you're bilingual. Pretty neat, huh?
