I had a thought this morning about the National Anthem. This whole kerfuffle might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. How many of you have attended a high school basketball game or, especially, a football game. When you look around the stands while the anthem is being played members of student bodies are goofing off, laughing and, in general, not paying attention to what their school band is doing. Talk about a lack of respect. The same goes for professional games. Fans are yelling at vendors for a beer. They're laughing and joking while our anthem is being played.
I wonder how many citizens even know the history of The Star Spangled Banner. It's a magnificent story.
Just maybe the attention that has come about to honor our country might give people pause to do the right thing. Maybe.
