I Did Not Know This About Chickens
A week ago Lizzie brought home from Giant Eagle grocery a couple of chicken breasts. I looked at them per her request and thought the same thing she did; these things must have been at the gym using Atlas weights before they got a hatchet job. Lizzie told me that they're fed growth hormones to increase their size. I remember going to the Lincoln restaurant in Boone, Iowa when I was a kid. Chicken legs were the size of today's pigeon legs. You could stick one in your ear and it'd disappear. Did you know that some people think breast cancer in men and women is brought on by the amount of growth hormones being injected in our food? There was a story on NPR radio about chickens. Corporate farmers are feeding then caffeine and cigarettes to keep them awake so they can eat more. I made up the part about cigarettes. In addition, the added weight on their bodies is hurting their spindly little legs so they're receiving ibuprofen by the bucket loads. The farmers should find some way of putting growth hormones in their legs. Problem solved.
