It appears the green crowd has exerted the proper influence in stopping the Keystone Pipeline from running from Canada to US refineries. Updates as we move through the day. I happened to be watching a 60 Minutes with Lizzie this Sunday past. There was a segment about Qatar and all the riches they have in the nation. Of course, 60 Minutes, being the utopia channel touted everything Qatar without citing one bad aspect of living in the country. One item that did catch my interest was when the Emir or whomever he is, said they can get a refinery up and running in five years. Harken back to the Clinton administration when Bubba told us it would be futile to build refineries since they take 20-25 years to get up and running. My thought at the time was, "So what. In 25 years we'll have refineries". I don't know how long it's been since we've constructed one in this country but I know my friend, George, would know. I was given the same response from our socialistic/communist senator, Sherrod Brown, last year.
Let's add some fuel to the fire. It is my understanding that three environmental studies have been done in the past five years to determine the impact of the Keystone Pipeline on our environment. None of the three found any detrimental significance. In addition, every major airport in the United States uses underground pipelines. How many airport explosions have hit the news cycle. Unless the Hindenburg was a pipeline disaster then I'd say zip.
Green rules, folks.
