Can You Identify This Flag

Every nation in the world has a flag. Primarily, it denotes some historical aspect of it's founding.

Here's a flag for you. Can you identify it. It has gained quite a bit of prominence in the world and especially in the United States.

Did you say it was from the United States and signifies the formation of our first 11 states? Well, you'd be incorrect. It is the first Confederate flag. The had quite a few but the one your familiar with wasn't much around in the War Between The States.

After the Civil War the Confederate Flaf pretty much disappeared until 1948. It was then that Harry Truman integrated the armed forces of the United States. Southern Democrats, racists, were livid with anger. Heck, as a kid in the 1950's and 60's I remember blacks having to drink out of colored only water fountains, sitting in designated areas in restaurants and having to use restroom facilities for colored only. Sounds silly today.

In 1948 Democrats were so po'd they formed their own segregation party called Dixiecrats and it was headed by a segregationist senatior from South Carolina named J. Storm Thurmond.

Back to the flag: It was the Dixiecrats who devised their own flag. Take a peek.

Do you recognize it? And Republicans catch hell for Democrat sins. Go figure. One final thing. Why is it race in the country is only on the front boiler from June to November in presidential election years?
