The 16-year-old boys who were snowboarding were located by helicopter and rescued by a search team Monday morning after they were reported missing Sunday evening, CBC/Radio-Canada reported.
"They're extremely lucky," Jim Kyle, the manager of Nelson Search and Rescue, told the news outlet.
"They did all the right things," he added.
That included building a fire, which they built in the dark and kept going with homework from one of the boy's backpacks, according to reports.
"It was heard to have been said that some homework found in a backpack aided in starting a fire in the night," Nelson Search and Rescue officials said in a news release posted to Facebook.
