"And That's Why God Made A Farmer"

I'm certain you've heard it by now that Michael Bloomberg put his foot in a big pile of cow pie. Yes, in 2016 while at a symposium he stated, in so many words, it doesn't take much to be a farmer: "dig a hole, put in some seed, cover the  hole with dirt, water it and corn comes up." Bloomberg said it doesn't take many brains to do this.

For millions upon millions who've never been near a farm I sure this statement didn't hit home. Ask them the question of where does the corm come from, where do we get our bread, where does our beef come from and they'll give you the same answer. It'd be the grocery story.

I grew up in corn and hog country. I've worked on farms. Folks, it's hard work. We'd get in the fields by 5 am and work through until lunch. There was always a huge spread because farmers need to eat. Then we'd get back in the fields and continue on to dark.

I'd watch the farmer til the soil, fix his tractor, weld, slop the hogs, all the while hoping the rain doesn't come until that days work is finished then hoping that rain comes the next day.

Why is it people, politicians especially, need to have the answers on everything? Why not say, when asked a question they don't know, tell the questioner they don't have the answer but get back to them when they find out.
