Why Do People Vote For A Candidate?

I remember the election of 1960. It was contentious prior to and after. John Kennedy ran against Dick Nixon. Kennedy was a Roman Catholic and under suspicion if elected he would turn the reins of the country over to the Pope. You laugh, right? But that's the way it was. On the other side people voted for him because of his New England accent. They liked is boyish looks. They felt his wife, Jackie, was elegant and beautiful. And that's the way people vote today-------out of ignorance on the issues.

Did you know that in the early part of the 1800's requirement to vote was a person, man of course, had to be a landowner. If one thinks about that it makes sense. Being a landowner meant a person had to have wealth and knowledge.

My point is this. Two days ago a democrat primary voter cast her tally for Pete the Mayor. As she was walking away a person mentioned to her that Pete was gay and had a 'husband'. The clueless voter immediately went to a pollster and said she wanted to change her vote because of his fetish.

Who in Iowa, aside from this person, wasn't aware of his sexual orientation? Quite a few I'd imagine. I have the answer as to why she voted for Pete in the first place. She was taken in by his boyish grin.

And that's the way it is.
