From Council Bluffs, Iowa then to Omaha onward to Arcadia, Iowa, up to Storm Lake and then to the homestead in Boone, Iowa and it only took two days with stops in between to visit with dear and wonderful friends.
I was fortunate enough to have dinner with a priest friend of forty-nine years last evening. Older people oftentimes talk about dying and inheritance. The conversation turned to giving away whatever wealth a person has to their children before their demise so the kids can use it to their benefit early on. So I made the not so original statement, "You can't take it with you". And my priest friend then said, "Yep, I've never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul". I thought that was a goodie and now you have my permission to repeat it to others. They will chuckle; guaranteed.
Forty-eight more hours and I'll be in Dublin, Ohio and not have to sponge a computer off friends or homeless people.
