Coach Bobby Knight: Many Called Him An Embarrassment To His Profession

902 wins Army (1965-71), Indiana (1971-2000), Texas Tech

Coach Bobby Knight is a legend in the ranks of college basketball. He ranks second in the number of wins behind Duke's Mike Krzyzewski who played for Knight at West Point.

Knight has often been referred to as the Gen. George Patton of the hardcourt. In other words, his mouth and actions have gotten him in trouble. He was fired from his position at Indiana University because he grabbed one of his players by the shirt in practice. The poor kid had his feelings hurt. His anger at what he perceived as poor officiating got him kicked out of a game by throwing a chair onto the floor.

The sports media, as liberal as they come, took great pride in exposing him as a bully and one who was a poor representative of what should be clean and beautiful about college sports.

Knight has many supporters, Krzyzewski included, who came to praise him for being an outstanding mentor.
One of his players at Indiana was in a car accident and was paralyzed from the waist down. Knight made certain he retained his scholarship. The man has give away hundreds of thousands of dollars, silently, to those in need.

There are many, both male and female, who thought he was an embarrassment to society because he often made statements so outrageous he'd make the front page of the NY Times. Knight didn't hold back. If his mouth got him in trouble he didn't care. When he felt he was right his detractors could go to hell.

This is what I want you to remember. Bobby Knight is a Hall of Fame basketball coach because he got the most out of his athletes that was humanly possible. The harder he worked, this taskmaster, the harder his kids worked. The result being many Big Ten Championships and three National Championships. Bobby Knight got the job done.

As far as I can tell the greatest fault of Donald Trump is that he has been accused by the press and citizens in general of making outrageous statements. For these, according to many, this disqualifies him from being our president.

Personally, I don't care what Trump says on the stump. What I do want is someone who can clean up the mess in Washington D.C. and be able to get the job done. I'm certain Trump would like to say to his detractors if given the chance, "you can kma! Now, let's get back to work".
