The NBA Holdout

I could care less if some dude on Wall Street makes gazillions of dollars a year. It is, after all, achieving the great American dream. I've written about professional athletes in previous posts. Some of these guys are making millions yearly for putting a piece of leather through a circular ring or catching and running with something called a 'football'. Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakes appears to be heading to Europe to play basketball for $5 million dollars this year. One thing that does bother me is that these guys are holding out for more cash and it isn't their fault. Why people spend exorbitant amounts of money to watch kids play games is beyond me. Maybe it's a form of penis envy. If you want to see good basketball or football attend a high school game. Go to a small college event. These fellas are good. There's a kid from my Alma mater, Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who is one of the NFL's leading ball carriers and plays for the Buffalo Bills. I get a kick out of watching my Wisconsin buddy coach football at Ripon College. He's in his sixty-sixth year but coaching keeps him young. It costs five dollars to watch his games. That's on average about two hundred dollars less than what it costs to see some bling*** wearing, surrounded by an entourage, spoiled brat do his thing.
If you want to end and NBA holdout then stop going to the games. Prices will come down and the players will have to make a decision; play or or go somewhere else.

***Speaking of which, did you catch Kanye West at the Occupy Wall Street march in support of "the people". He had enough bling around his neck to sink a battleship.
