A Man Who Gets It

I was watching Chris Wallace on Fox yesterday and at the end of his show he always has a 'power player of the week' segment. Yesterday he zeroed in on a man named Dr. Ben Carson. He is the pre-eminent brain surgeon in the United States at Johns Hopkins. He is also a philanthropist who has set up scholarship programs in education to the tune of $5 million dollars. His mother was 13 when he was born in Detroit.
As you might have surmised by now he is a black man; a true Horatio Alger story. His mother was illiterate her entire life but demanded that her children learn to read and write. Carson's mom did all the good things a caring adult can provide with limited resources. He was valedictorian in high school and a top scholar at Yale. He is the youngest person to head of the med dept. at Johns Hopkins.
I had never heard of him until yesterday. At the end of the segment Wallace said, "You sound like a conservative Republican". Carson's response, "show me where entitlements and government giveaways make a country better then I'm all for it". He said he's still waiting.
I may have to purchase his biography.
